Michael Britton, born in 1957, was trained at the New York Academy of Art (Masters Program - full tuition scholarship) from which he graduated in 1986.

During the past twenty years Michael has taught, researched and developed his portrait drawing, composition and color courses. His teaching posts include those as Artistic Director of the Vancouver Academy of Art (1997 - 2004) and Walt Disney Animation Studios, Vancouver (1998-2000), amongst others.

As both an artist and teacher Michael is keenly aware of the struggles and needs of students and the failure of most art education institutions to meet those needs. Michael's belief is that beginning artists should first acquire a solid foundation of craft and skill coupled with a knowledge and understanding of art history including modern and contemporary processes of critical thinking.

Michael Britton is an acknowledged Canadian Drawing Master and exhibits his larger watercolor and gouache figurative paintings internationally.
