PAINTING THE FIGURE IN WATERCOLOR
Britton: Live & Raw
Painting the figure in watercolour is a beautiful demonstration, I'm inspired to get my watercolours out and try out the technique, its outstanding the modelling of 3D form, the rich darks and the luminous flesh. Without a doubt one of the best figurative works in watercolour that I have seen.
In front of an audience of over 100 artists the studio was filled to overflowing I gave a major live demonstration on painting the figure in watercolor. Almost life-size in fact. This was a fairly large painting and I only had two hours to do it. Boy, I tell you, that was some challenge for me. In that two hour performance I showed the entire process of how I achieve luminous flesh tones beginning with a cobalt blue underpainting and finishing with a final blush of a soft red. I knew that I wouldn’t have much time for chit-chat so our Director, Carmel Fowers who was an advanced student of mine for six years, narrated the complete process.
Good news is, we videotaped the demonstration and have fully digitally restored and enhanced this demonstration. This 2-hour instant video download is live, uncensored and uncut. Painting the Figure in Watercolor: Britton Live & Raw is quite different from an instructional video. Here you will see not only my full figure painting approach, but very importantly, how I actually apply the paint. Especially when I’m in full painting mode.
